Apple's TOP 5 of 2016

by Apple Gomez

Glory//Good Morning

This group from Melbourne, AUS has soft buzzy sounds similar to Mac Demarco and Homeshake and they always manage to make me feel some typa way. Glory is short and sweet and makes me want to ride my bike in the cold you know?

City Club//The Growlers

The Growlers went a new direction with their usual psychedelic-beach-rock sound by teaming up with Julian Casablancas (from the Strokes & ect) to produce City Club. This album came out super groovy and the presence of Casablanca’s influence is undeniable.

A Seat at the Table//Solange

I could go on and on about how much I support Solange and admire her artistry, but for now I will just commend a Seat at the Table as one of the best albums released in 2016. None of us were really expecting it, but we all needed it.

Mystere//La Femme

Just listen.

Blond//Frank Ocean

This album was another great unexpected gift, featuring multiple tracks that I have on repeat.

HONORABLE MENTIONS::::TWO COOL ONES DOING COOL THINGS.

telefone//noname  -

Telefone is the debut album of a young rapper from Chicago. She has been featured on Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book and is definetly worth a listen~

Black Terry Cat//Xenia Rubinos -

Xenia Rubinos uses this upbeat album to share her thoughts and experiences & especially those effected by the current political climate. Give this a listen y’all.
