Celebrating King Princess

On April 26th at the Showbox, King Princess brought her “Pussy is God” tour to a close on a high note. This meaningful last show also fell on Lesbian Visibility Day, emphasizing the show as a celebration of sexuality.

The show opened with a friend of King Princess and Australian artist, Banoffee. The two have joined together in creating an unreleased single, which they performed later in the night. Both artists made comments about how much fun it was to be on tour with friends -- and they both truly meant it. Watching them dance together added to the tangible feeling of love and celebration.

Following Banoffee was Miss Texas 1988, a drag queen with a short set that was definitely not short in energy. She told a visual story about the realm of online dating with a couple of throwback jams from Queen and Jefferson Airplane (both songs titled “Somebody to Love”).

Finally, King Princess graced the stage. She filled the air with beautiful music and the vape from her juul. With a blend of familiar singles and unreleased tracks, her set was lively and interactive. King Princess continuously pointed out people from the crowd, saying that they “stood out” to her. During the song that gave the tour it’s title, everyone waved rainbow flags that said “Pussy is God.” Love really was in the air!

Still a rising star, King Princess only has an EP released on streaming platforms. That being said, her music has already become popular and inspired members of the LGBTQ+ community. With the mention of and sneak peek into an upcoming record, we are excited to keep celebrating sexuality and liberation with King Princess in her songs to come.
